JioHotstar sells three plans, and on 28 January 2026 it added monthly billing to all of them. That matters more than it sounds: until then the cheapest way in was a quarterly payment, which is a hard sell if you only want to watch one tournament. The structure is now Mobile at ₹79, Super at ₹149 and Premium at ₹299 per month, with the older quarterly and annual options still on the shelf.
This page is the comparison we wish existed when we were picking a tier: what each JioHotstar plan unlocks, where the limits actually bite, and which one is worth the money for a given kind of viewer.
JioHotstar plan prices at a glance
| Plan | Monthly | Quarterly | Annual | Devices at once |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile | ₹79 | ₹149 | ₹499 | 1 phone or tablet |
| Super | ₹149 | ₹349 | ₹1,099 | 2 devices |
| Premium | ₹299 | ₹699 | ₹2,199 | 4 devices |
Resolution climbs with price: the Mobile plan caps at 720p, Super at 1080p Full HD, and Premium adds 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on titles that carry it. All three include live sport; the difference is how many people can watch at once and how good it looks on a large screen.
Mobile at ₹79: the cricket-only option
The Mobile tier is a single handheld device at a time, 720p, ad-supported. Hollywood films and series are not part of the base pack. If you want them you buy the Hollywood add-on: ₹49 a month, ₹129 a quarter or ₹399 a year. Adding the annual add-on to the annual plan lands you at ₹898 a year, which is still well under any other service's entry price, but at that point the Super plan does more for ₹200 more.
Where Mobile wins is the one-screen viewer who mainly watches cricket on a phone during the commute. It is also the cheapest legal way to watch a full IPL season, and it does not lock you into a year.
Super at ₹149: the sensible default
Super is the plan most households should start with. Two simultaneous streams, 1080p, and the full catalogue including Hollywood, all for ₹149 a month or ₹1,099 a year. Ads stay, and Dolby Atmos appears on selected titles. On a 43 to 55 inch television at normal viewing distance, the gap between 1080p and 4K is far smaller than the marketing suggests, which is why Super is the value pick rather than a compromise.
Two streams is the real constraint. A family of four that watches different things in different rooms will collide with it during the IPL playoffs, and no amount of picture quality fixes that.
Premium at ₹299: 4K, four screens, no ads
Premium removes advertising from entertainment content, though live sport and live shows still carry ads because those breaks belong to the broadcaster. It unlocks 4K with Dolby Vision and Atmos, and allows four devices at once, which is enough for a living room, a bedroom and two phones.
The annual Premium plan is ₹2,199. Compared with the ₹499 Mobile year, that is a fourfold jump, so it only makes sense if you have a 4K panel, a soundbar or AV receiver, and at least three regular viewers.
Which JioHotstar plan should you buy
- Phone-only, sport-first: Mobile monthly at ₹79. Cancel after the final.
- One TV, two viewers: Super annual at ₹1,099. Best quality per rupee.
- 4K TV, family of four: Premium annual at ₹2,199.
- Testing the service: one month of Super at ₹149 and decide with real content.
JioHotstar confirmed that subscribers already on a plan keep their current price as long as auto-renewal stays active. If you are on a legacy Disney+ Hotstar or JioCinema plan, do not cancel to "switch" unless you have compared the new rate first.
What you get without paying at all
A large slice of JioHotstar is free and ad-supported, including many live sporting events, films and shows. The subscription is about convenience and quality, not access to a locked door. If you are unsure whether the catalogue suits you, install the app, watch for a week, then subscribe from inside the app when the ads start to annoy you. Our JioHotstar download guide covers installation on every platform.
How to change or cancel a JioHotstar plan
On Android, manage the subscription through Google Play; on iPhone and iPad, through Apple; on the web, through the account page. Cancelling stops the next renewal and keeps access until the paid period ends. Upgrading mid-cycle usually credits the unused balance, but the amount is calculated by the store, not by JioHotstar, so check the confirmation screen before you confirm.
